It’s Thanksgiving evening so I’m sitting here thinking of the things I’m thankful for. I know, there are a billion blogs with the same “idea” tonight.
There are the obvious things, of course, my loving family and friends, a well-paying job, a nice place to live, good transportation, a good life, decent health.
Then there are some less-obvious things like my various talents, my dog, my eye for beauty, my time with my son, my ability to fall asleep quickly, sitting quietly and listening to music (or singing along loudly), bundling up with a good book.
And then there are the things I’m pretty sure are just me. I’m so grateful I haven’t horribly embarrassed myself lately; I have horribly embarrassed a lot of other people, but that’s just funny to me. I got reasonable scores on my GRE, not awesome, but good enough. I’m thankful for Netflix and video games, though I spend entirely too much time on both of them.
I have everything I need and a whole lot of stuff I don’t need. I am able to wake up in the morning, get out of bed, and do pretty much whatever I want. Sure, I have to go to work, but I am also able to go to work, and there’s something to be said for that.
I’m ok. I’m an entirely different person than I was 10 years ago. In a good way. Day by day I’m letting go of the past. I feel good.
There’s so much more that I won’t get into now. All in all, I’m pretty blessed. For that I am eternally grateful.
What are you thankful for?
